Early Life
Angel Cabrera’s hometown is Cordoba, a city on the Primero Riverbank, which lies about 700 kilometers northwest of Buenos Aires, Argentina’s capital. Cabrera was born on September 12, 1969. Both of his parents worked to put food on the table. Miguel Cabrera, Angel’s father, was a handyman by trade. His mother worked as a maid.
Unfortunately, Cabrera did not have the privilege to live with his parents growing up. Only four years after his birth, Miguel divorced Angel’s mother. Miguel left Angel in the care of his mother, Angel’s paternal grandmother. She was the birth parent Cabrera knew as a kid, and he stayed with her till his mid-teenage years.

Cabrera began working as a caddy at the Córdoba Country Club when he was ten years old, and he claims the place turned into his actual home. He got proficient in golf by competing against other caddies there to make a fast buck.
Members noticed his tremendous commitment and powerful swing. Cordoba-native real estate tycoon Juan Cruz Molina, a regular at the club, got Cabrera his first set of clubs. He was 16 years old at that time. Within four years, Cabrera went pro.

Angel Cabrera had an uninspiring start to his career as his first three European Tour qualification attempts ended in vain. He made it to the European Tours on his fourth try, and Molina funded his trip to the competition.
Cabrera kept his card for the first three seasons with ease and made significant improvements to become 10th on the Order of Merit in 1999. He would make it into the Order of Merit top 15 six more times in his career, and his highest rank came in 2005 when he came up 5th.
Cabrera won his first major tournament at Oakmont Country Club in Pittsburgh in 2007. He concluded the championship at 5-over, one shot ahead of Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk, who finished second and third, respectively.
Angel Cabrera made history by becoming the first Argentine to win the US Open in 2007. In doing so, he became the first Argentine since Robert De Vicenzo to win a major.
